How to Train your Dragon 2 (2014)

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was released in June 2014, with the story continuing 5 years from where it left off. The sequel is a story of how Hiccup, the Viking son, takes an adventurous trip with his pet dragon Toothless, the last of the Night Fury species.

The Plot

On their adventure, they come across a fantastical island full of wild dragons and run into the mysterious Dragon Rider. Hiccup also finds his long-lost mother Valka who has become a dragon protector and rescuer. In the process to reunite his family and stop a war, Hiccup and his friends get into a severe battle with the spine-chilling psychopath maniac named Drago who has built a fierce dragon army.

The story starts with a regular dragon race on the island of Berk. While flying and manoeuvring the turns, Hiccup and Toothless deviate from their route and end up on an unknown island where they get captured by a group of sailors who trap dragons and sell them to the scary villain Drago.

Why does this villain Drago wants to wage a war? He wants to control all dragons in the world. The story also reveals how he is an enemy from the past, how he managed to kill all Viking chiefs many years back just because they refused to accept his authority. Hiccup's father, Stoik, the chief of the Vikings was the only man to escape the massacre.

Now the question is: who is this mysterious Dragon Rider and what is it's agenda? Does Hiccup and his army manage to defeat Drago?

The story ends the way it is supposed to - the good wins and evil is defeated. As with any war, they have to pay a heavy price. Finally, all's well and the people of Berk rejoice. However, they don't really show Drago dying. His army of dragons are defeated and the alpha-dragon retreats into the ocean waters. So the question is, will there be a Part 3? I sure hope so :)

In my opinion, this is one of the better sequels made. Most sequels fail badly when compared to the first part. But not this one. Way to go 20th Century Fox!! I would rate this movie 8.5 out of 10.
